Columbia Hike Society Disclaimer and Waiver
By signing up for and participating in hikes organised by Columbia Hike Society, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:
Liability Waiver
While our guides are trained professionals with first aid training, participation in outdoor hiking activities carries inherent risks. Columbia Hike Society, its organisers, guides, and affiliated entities cannot be held liable for any injury, illness, loss, or death that may occur during or after the hike. Participants are responsible for assessing their own physical capabilities and health conditions before joining the hike.
Venue and Refunds
Columbia Hike Society is not responsible for any fees, refunds, or cancellations imposed by third-party venues or trail providers. Should a venue cancel or alter access, any refund requests or compensation must be addressed directly with the venue.
Allergens and Food Disclaimer
Complimentary snacks, such as cereal bars, may contain allergens, including but not limited to nuts, milk, and wheat gluten. It is the participant’s responsibility to review ingredients and ensure that they are safe for personal consumption. Columbia Hike Society cannot be held liable for any allergic reactions or adverse effects from snacks provided.
Medical Conditions
Participants with any known medical conditions (e.g., asthma, heart conditions, allergies) must disclose these conditions upon registration. Columbia Hike Society and its guides will make reasonable efforts to ensure the safety of participants but are not liable for any incidents related to undisclosed medical conditions. Participants are also required to carry their medical card if they have one.
Personal Responsibility
Each participant is responsible for bringing appropriate gear, hydration, and sustenance. Participants should follow all instructions provided by hike guides and adhere to safety protocols. Failure to do so may result in removal from the hike.
Children under 18
All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during the hike. The accompanying adult is fully responsible for the child’s safety and well-being throughout the event. It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to assess the child’s physical ability and readiness to participate in the hike. Columbia Hike Society and its representatives cannot be held liable for any incidents involving minors or if a child splits from the group.
